Nelson Bighorn Sheep 2008-2009 Season |
| DEADLINE FOR NELSON BIGHORN SHEEP TAG DRAWING Applications, along with a nonrefundable processing fee ($7.50 per person) must be received by the DFG's License & Revenue Branch in Sacramento by 5:00 p.m., June 2, 2008. |
Drawing Results: Beginning June 25, 2008, draw results will be available by phone during regular business hours from DFG license sales offices, DFG offices and at https://biggame.dfg.ca.gov/biggame. Successful applicants should receive their tags in the mail by July 2, 2008. Successful applicants and alternates will be asked to submit their tag fees to the DFG's License and Revenue Branch in Sacramento by July 14, 2008. Tags not claimed by successful applicants will be awarded to individual alternates in the order drawn. | Tag Information: Tags are not transferable and are valid only for the area and period specified. Applicants must apply for only one designated zone. Only department employees may validate bighorn sheep tags. |
| Resident Bighorn Sheep Tag Application: To apply for tags, California residents must be 16 years of age or older, possess a valid California hunting license, and must not have been previously issued a California bighorn sheep license tag. |
| Nonresident Bighorn Sheep Tag Application: To apply for tags, you must be 16 years of age or older and must not have been previously issued a California bighorn sheep license tag. No more than one nonresident shall be selected to receive a general license tag. |
| Resident Tag Fees: If successful in the drawing, you will be notified by mail to submit the tag fee of $333.75. |
| Nonresident Tag Fees: If successful in the drawing, you will be notified by mail to submit the tag fee of $500.00. |
| Bag and Possession Limit: One bighorn sheep ram per season. |
| Validation of Bighorn Sheep Tags: Only Department of Fish and Game employees may validate bighorn sheep tags. Tags must be countersigned before transporting such bighorn sheep except for the purpose of taking it to the nearest person authorized to countersign the license tag, on the route being followed from the point where the bighorn sheep is taken. |
| Return of Bighorn Sheep Tags: All tagholders must return their license tags to the Department of Fish and Game, Wildlife Management Division in Sacramento within 10 days after the close the season even though the tagholder may not have killed a bighorn ram. |
