2008-2009 Deer Hunts and Seasons
DEADLINE FOR PREMIUM DEER TAG DRAWING
Deer tag applications for X Zones, Additional Hunts & Area-Specific Archery Hunts
must be received by the DFG's License & Revenue Branch in Sacramento by 5:00 p.m., June 2, 2008.

Hunting Licenses: (License Year runs July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009)
Resident, age 16 and over - $38.85
Nonresident - $134.95
Junior (Resident/Nonresident under 16 years) - $10.25
Disabled Veteran - $6.00
Deer Tag Applications:
To purchase deer tag applications, you must be a at least 12 years of age, possess a valid California hunting license, and you must not have been convicted of a deer hunting violation during the previous license year. Tags are not transferable and are valid only for the area and period specified.
Resident Deer Tag Fee:
One-Deer Tag Application - Tag fee is $26.00.
Second-Deer Tag Application - Tag fee is $32.30.
Nonresident Deer Tag Fee:
One-Deer Tag Application - Tag fee is $228.65.
Second-Deer Tag Application - Tag fee is $228.65.
Bag and Possession Limit:
One deer per license tag per season.
Premium Deer Tag Drawing Results:
Beginning June 25, 2008, draw results will be available by phone during regular business hours from DFG license sales offices, DFG offices and at https://biggame.dfg.ca.gov/biggame. Successful applicants should receive their tags in the mail by July 2, 2008. Unsuccessful applicants should receive notices in the mail by July 2, 2008.
Validation of Deer Tags:
Only Department of Fish and Game employees and other authorized agents may validate deer tags.
Return of Deer Tags:
Every person who takes a deer shall immediately return the report card portion of the deer license tag, after having the tag countersigned as required above. The tag may be presented to a department office/officer or returned through the United States Mail to the Department of Fish and Game, Wildlife Management Division in Sacramento.
