Drawing Results:
Beginning June 25, 2008, draw results will be available by phone during regular business hours from DFG license sales offices, DFG offices and at https://biggame.dfg.ca.gov/biggame. Successful applicants should receive their tags in the mail by July 2, 2008. Successful applicants and alternates will be asked to submit their tag fees to the DFG's License and Revenue Branch in Sacramento by July 14, 2008. Tags not claimed by successful applicants will be awarded to individual alternates in the order drawn.

Elk Tag Applications:
To apply for tags, you must be a California resident and at least 12 years of age and possess a valid California hunting license.
Only one nonresident can be drawn for an elk tag annually.

Resident Elk Tag Fee:
If successful in the drawing, you will be notified by mail to submit the tag fee of $354.00.

Nonresident Resident Elk Tag Fee:
If successful in the drawing, you will be notified by mail to submit the tag fee of $1094.75.

Bag and Possession Limit:
Bag and possession limit is one elk per season.

Tag Information:
Tags are not transferable and are valid only for the area and period specified. Only department employees may validate elk tags.

Validation of Elk Tags:
Only Department of Fish and Game employees and other authorized agents may validate elk tags. Elk tags must be countersigned before transporting such elk except for the purpose of taking it to the nearest person authorized to countersign the license tag, on the route being followed from the point where the elk is taken.

Return of Elk Tags:
All tagholders must return their license tags to the Department of Fish and Game, Wildlife Management Division in Sacramento within one week after the close of the elk season, even though the tagholder may not have killed an elk.
